Gynia is an entirely privately owned medical institution that was born out of the desire and ambition of a group gynecologists, with the intention to offer patients a private alternative in obstetrics and gynecological care in Cluj, the capital of Transylvania.

10-15 years ago, running a private hospital was still considered a daring venture, especially since obstetrics and gynecology involve multiple, and sometimes unpredictable risks. The founders have nonetheless pursued their wish to offer an alternative to the conditions found in the state hospitals, which combines comfort and a pleasant ambiance with medical safety.

After completion of the construction in 2007, the hospital was inaugurated in May 2008. Its functional concept included three departments: an out-patient clinic with three examination rooms and a day hospital for small surgery; the Gynecology department with 10 beds, an operating block and an Intensive Care Unit on the 1st floor; and the Obstetrics Department with 10 beds, a labor room and a newborn nursery on the 2nd floor. A General Surgery department was later added.

This year we have celebrate 14 years of sustained activity and continuous, gradual development.

Our doctors and nurses are thus standing by 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in all our three wards: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Neonatology and the Intensive Care Unit.

Our workload gradually increased from 28 births per month in 2008 to 82 births per month in 2018, from 5 gynecological surgeries per month in 2008 to 38 such procedures per month in 2018. In the same period, our outpatient activity and day hospital care have likewise increased.

More than 99% of all cases are solved in our hospital, sometimes with the aid of external experts. Only patients with serious conditions that are not related to our specialty, and significantly premature newborns are transferred to other health care providers. During all this time, no case of malpractice was recorded in our hospital.
